To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and to further promote the orientation for the 2025 freshmen, NEU history drama "Together" was staged at the Liu Changchun Gymnasium in the Nanhu Campus, taking the university's history as a carrier to deepen "education through history". Zhang Qi, Commander of the Military Training Corps, Vice President Wang Hui and others attended the event. Over 5,000 freshmen, more than 140 representatives of newly recruited staff members and teachers, as well as the training instructors and counselors from various colleges watched the drama together, experiencing the magnificent epic of NEU keeping pace with China's development and embarking on the journey of the times over the past century.
"Together" is based on the century-old history of NEU and adopts a "three-act and seven-segment" structure. It connects major historical events through the experiences of "four generations of a family dedicated to NEU", following the historical thread of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and reproduces the glorious years of NEU wandered in exile amid the flames of the War of Resistance and continued its academic endeavors. A segment titled "War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression Stories in NEU History" was specially set up at the performance site. Through the interaction of real-life and historical figures, it reproduced the stories of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, vividly depicting portraits of passionate youth such as Song Li, Miao Kexiu, and Cong Dezi who devoted themselves to the anti-Japanese salvation movement. It profoundly interpreted NEU's century-old responsibility of "breathing with the country and sharing the destiny with the nation".
It is reported that the NEU history drama "Together" was created and produced in 2023. It is a heartfelt tribute from all the teachers and students of NEU to the century-old university. The drama not only has won high praise from alumni, parents and current teachers and students, but also has been widely reported by many national and provincial and municipal media such as Guangming Daily and China Education Daily. To enhance the ideological depth and artistic tension of this year's performance, the creative team optimized and adjusted the drama during the summer vacation, and carried out secondary creations. From the refinement of the lines, the detailed adjustments of body language expression, to the redesign of lighting, stage design, costumes, makeup and props, every actor and every staff member adhered to the attitude of striving for excellence to present "Together" to the audience in a brand-new and more touching way.
